Back your mascot on the back of the car
So the Daily Herald from the Chicago suburbs asks the question if Notre Dame is in Indiana, why does Illinois issue specialty license plates with the Fighting Irish on them?
Well Illinois is not the only one for license plate news. Georgia sees this as big business yet passed a law this last year that will only issue alumni tags for state schools that return the favor. At the moment, Auburn and Clemson have Georgia alumni tags and the LSU alumni chapter Atlanta, are hoping to gain tag approval. Manufacture takes approval from the state and advance sales of 1,000. The special tags put ya back some with a $25 manufacturing fee and a $25 annual fee above the regular cost of license plates in the state of Georgia!
I can hardly wait to see Evergreen Geoducks on plates!
Bleacher Report Slideshow
LINK The Bleacher Report has come out with a top ten sports mascots slideshow and Stories Behind the Fur loves lists and pictures- marry the two and you have a wonderful slideshow! The opening page has a great pic and an apology to all the great wonderful and unique highschool mascots since they had to limit it to college and professionals. I guess it’s an 18 and over show!!!
Bowls Galore

So college football winds to a close with the last of the bowl games. It’s interesting that was once the Peach Bowl, now the Chick-Fil-A Bowl has become a branding machine and a sell out game numerous years running. Not only do the mascots of the game have competition as a kiddie favorite since the food establishments cute cows are there as well, it’s the best chicken sandwiches available for a food and football festival.
Rose Parade and Rose Bowl today still reports positive status in a rocky economy. Although the Nittany Lion has been suspended, hopefully Tommy Trojan and Traveler should represent nicely! Today’s local KPCC reporter Brian Watt did a report on the Rose Bowl and Parade. Those interviewed talked of even in tight times, people want tradition and happy times. This event delivers and bang for the buck for advertising, sponsorship and floats (multiple airtime and moving signage/viewer ship along the parade route.) There is talk since this game doesn’t determine a National Championship, there may be fewer eyes on the game yet it is still compared to the Super Bowl as far as ratings numbers and viewers.
And of most important mascot news, WHAT AN INTERNSHIP! Forget getting coffee and dry cleaning, Lynn University mascot Chris Dillion will be showing off his skills as Obie the Orange Bowl Mascot today.
The Palm Beach Post article says Dillion aspires to be a major league baseball mascot when he grows up!
It should be interesting for him going from being dressed as a knight and kissing ladies hands to a large orange globe. Check it out today on Fox 8pm Eastern!
