Hunh? I have to admit, I am quite confused to this new mascot…not sure it’s the improvement that was called for…but when the student body only had 3 choices (Rebel Land Shark, the Rebel Black Bear and the Rebel Hotty Toddy)–It looks as if the students chose wisely.
Too bad Admiral Ackbar is still not a viable choice. So do you give a rebel yell or Grrrrr?
Who can argue with the student quote “we are the Ole Miss Rebels, who better to lead our team to victory than the leader of the rebel alliance in Star Wars?”

Always hard to say good bye to the familiar, but many feel Col. Reb is not what this century needs for Ole Miss. Jeff has a few suggestions to flesh out the top 5 new mascots in the running. Here’s the Link
Six years ago, Colonel Reb was taken away as the University’s official mascot, without students’ input and this week petitions are out on campus to see if students want a mascot on the field. Associated Student Body general election is tomorrow and the issue is out in the form of petitions and forums. Should be interesting to see if this is an issue that students are willing to take up as a cause. Good Luck to all. Link to blog article
