Whose that knocking at your door?

Penn State students had surprise visits from the” neighbors” in the  2nd annual LION (Living In One Neighborhood) Walk.  Nittany Lion and others from the school and the community knocked on doors and handed out fliers on how to hold safe gatherings.

Makes one wonder if Illinois State still has the party patrol, where a student group would give a warning of a police phone call before the fuzz showed up and took the kegs away in the trunk of the squad car!

New Duties for a Mascot

Times Leader article Wilkes University has a new tradition to show students that they will get one on one attention at school- a visit from he Colonel mascot. Three mascots are traveling the country “punk-ing” incoming students with announcements and scholarship checks. What will they do to top that for those graduating?

No Nittany Lion at the Rose Bowl?

What a shame that misjudgment leads to trouble.  The night before a game with Michigan State, Penn State’s Nittany Lion mascot, James Sheep was pulled over by campus police after they noticed the car’s back end was basically dragging and had obstructed views due to too many people in the vehicle.   James Sheep was later charged with DUI and has been suspended for the rest of the season.
What a shame there will be no mascot to help cheer Penn State in the Rose Bowl against USC Trojans on New Year’s Day this year!

Barking at Jacob Wilcock Carnegie Mellon’s Scotty

last race-lousy time!

last race-lousy time!

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.

Jacob was kind enough to talk to Stories Behind the Fur, revealing who was under the Scotty Hood and helped open up the school’s mascot opportunity.  This year will be the first year one can audition/tryout to be Scotty before it was just like out here in Hollywood–it was who ya know!!!

Jacob also gave insight into choosing a new mascot outfit.  Many factors go into committee including mobility and visibility.

Jacob talks about the clip above. Which, when on your last college ski run, a choice outfit with limited visibility is probably not the wisest, but it is the most stylish!
